Questions for Skaters:

  • Skate Forward’s goal is to provide those unable to enroll in skating lessons the resources to do so independently. If you can attest that you would be otherwise unable to fund skating lessons and equipment needs, then you are eligible. Currently, we offer two types of grants:

Introductory Grant: This grant is for skaters without or with limited previous skating experience who are looking to enroll in introductory lessons.

Continuation Grant: This grant is for skaters who have already taken skating lessons, but face financial barriers prohibiting them from progressing beyond introductory classes. Please contact us for more details.

  • Introductory Grant: This grant covers the costs associated with starting skating lessons (skate rentals, equipment, and lesson fees). We work with grant-receiving skaters to understand what they need (e.g. a skater may already have a jacket, but need support for skate rentals and lesson fees).

Continuation Grant: This grant covers the fixed costs associated with progressing beyond typical introductory lessons. These costs often include club membership fees and new skates.

  • No! For skaters without significant experience, the Introductory Grant is likely the best choice. For skaters who have previously taken classes and are looking to join a skating club, the Continuation Grant is likely the best choice.

  • Skaters have the ability to select the program that they wish to enroll in and receive a grant for. We will work with the skater and appropriate rink to ensure that they are in their desired program!

  • Registration is currently open for the fall session. Exact times differ based on level and selected rink. For example, see times for Braemar Arena classes here: Braemar Schedule.

  • Please visit the “Apply” section of our website. The application takes only two minutes or less! We will respond to your application promptly!
